Messy Church

Messy Church at Riverside is about families having fun together, making things, worshipping God and having a meal. We aim to make everyone feel welcome, involved and valued. It is called Messy Church because you get Messy!

What happens?

People arrive in the church and have a short time of activities to become familiar with the story of the day. Refreshments are also available here. Then we move through to the hall for a craft time where there is a choice of 8-10 craft activities which feed into the theme of the service; a few other activities are available such as toys for the very young and table football. This lasts for about 45 minutes. Our worship time, held in the church, follows. This will last about 30 minutes and will involve using some of the things made previously and draws together the theme for the day. Then there is food! There is a simple meal for everyone to enjoy together before leaving.

Messy Church provides an informal environment for all-ages to explore and experience faith and worship through crafts, food and celebration.

Messy Church describes each and every one of us as no one is perfect and each of us lead messy lives for many reasons.

Messy Church is about doing things together.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

We meet at 4pm on the second Sunday of each month, except August and December.  Please feel free to contact our Youth & Children's Work Elder, or just turn up - we would love to see you.
